Being just past the halfway mark now, a quick retrospective on how WeblogPoMo is going

Okay so I'm just past the halfway mark on #WeblogPoMo2024, so thought I'd have a quick reflection on how it's going so far.

The good

I've kept up with it so far! I genuinely didn't expect to manage 17 consecutive blog posts1, it's far-and-away my longest streak of posting on here, which has been great. I'm also really enjoying the little project I've been working on. I think stating that I'd have no accountability from the start really helped: there's no failure mode, if I don't finish the project or series, I'll still have made progress.

I also think taking the time to batch-write some posts a day or two ahead, so I'm able to account for busier days has relieved the pressure. I think I wrote the first week's posts in the first day or two. The occasional off-topic post that's nothing to do with Golang helps too, otherwise it'd be far too samey.

The bad

I do feel a bit of pressure to make sure the posts go out. It's very light pressure, and I'm working on not letting it get to me at all. It helps that pretty much everybody else has missed a day or two, and that there is absolutely nothing riding on this.

Overall though, I'm enjoying it so far, and if I do manage to keep it up for the entire month I'll be incredibly impressed.
